Canadian e-commerce platform Shopify has announced the promotion of Emilie Benoit-Vernay, previously head of France and Southern Europe, to Director of Partnerships EMEA. Lara Rosquët will take over as head of the company’s French operations.
Benoit-Vernay takes on her new role after having led Shopify France since 2018. “The EMEA region plays a crucial role in Shopify’s ambitions to improve commerce for everyone,” says the new director. “The partner ecosystem is a key pillar of Shopify’s expansion.”
For the Canadian group, the EMEA region accounts for 27% of merchants using Shopify services, with sales in excess of $1.2 billion (€1.1 billion) in the 2023 financial year. Shopify boasts several million business customers in 175 countries, including Supreme, Le Tanneur, Balzac Paris, Mattel and Netflix.
Lara Rosquët joined Shopify in 2016, having previously worked for the company as Director of Partnerships France and Head of Development EMEA. She takes on her new French responsibilities with a wealth of experience gained at Rocket Internet, Amazon and Kurt Salmon.
Last May, Shopify announced that it was cutting 20% of its workforce and delegating its transport business in order to concentrate on its core business of online sales. In its 2023 financial year, revenues rose by 26% and profits by 28%.
